How much wire/tape do you use on a house? Can't Post

I tend to over wire.

I've seen some houses recently where people have run a lot of tapewire -- more than they used to -- but still not as much as I do.

Even on a die-cut kit, I've run wire up both sides of the fronts around each window, across the second stories, around the floors and even tops of 10" ceilings, up walls, etc. Anywhere I think I might want to put a light, or an electric outlet.

I have a 4-5 room cottage that has almost 30 feet of tapewire! (Not quite wall paper! <G>)

So, how do you wire?

Part of running a lot of wire is the resistance. Making sure any single run is fairly short, and branches don't come off at the end of a run can reduce the loss by length/resistance and any micro heat build up (that could affect your paint/paper over time).

I use hollow eyelets for joining runs (and occaisionally add a brad or two if I am in doubt about the connections). I strip the cover off the bottom wire so that a better electical connection can be made. Of course I test after EVERY connection to make sure I haven't shorted anything. (Testing at the end, is like hitting the submit button on your taxes before checking them!)

Anyway... what do you do?

Also, do any of you *STILL* use wire? Or the large plugs on figures (not just table ones, but ceiling or wall) or the outlet strips?

That seems to be more British than American.

I know once the tape wire came out (I have single wire spools from a long time ago!) I didn't look back at the wiring with wire. I still use wire through walls (If I can't go around with tape) and for special purposes, but I have found the tape to be the best solution for 95% of all situations.
